The Key to Unlock the Bible's Central Revelation

I have been a believer for over 35 years and have found the writings of Witness Lee and Watchman Nee to be among the most helpful in my Christian life--both in understanding the Bible and in experiencing Christ. I first encountered these writings when I was 21 when I began meeting with the local church in Seattle. I had been reading the Bible seriously for several years, but I found it hard to reconcile the Old Testament with the New Testament. I was also troubled by the divisions I saw among the believers.

In the ministry of these two Christian brothers, I found answers to a number of questions that had bothered me. I began to see that God had a purpose with humanity that began before creation, and that this purpose was not merely to redeem us from the curse of the law but to make us His bride and counterpart. Furthermore, especially through the commentaries of Witness Lee on Genesis and Paul's epistles, I saw this purpose was consistent from Genesis 1 through Revelation 22. For the first time in my Christian life, the Old and New Testaments formed a coherent whole. This purpose, which 1 Timothy 1:4 calls the economy of God, is that God wants humanity to express Him with His image and rule with Him with His dominion (Genesis 1:27). This is the key that unlocks the Bible. I started finding that whatever I read--whether the Pentateuch, the historical books, the poetry books, the prophets, the gospels or the epistles--all Scripture fit together with God's eternal purpose.

As I met with the church in Seattle and other local churches, I also saw a vision of the Body of Christ that answered my troubling about division. God's way to bring the believers into oneness is not organizational as with the ecumenical movement, nor merely “spiritual” in an impractical way. Rather we must experience the worth of the cross to slay the divisions caused by ordinances among humanity (Ephesians 2:15) and enjoy the very oneness of the Triune God that Christ is transfusing to us as we drink the one Spirit (John 17:21-24; 1 Corinthians 12:13). As I have entered into such a revelation and experience practically, I feel I am in the process of being prepared to be a member of the bride of Christ that will culminate in the New Jerusalem as His wife (Revelation 21:2, 9-10).
